Vermont Foodbank manager to speak at Lions Club

JACKSONVILLE >> The next meeting of the Whitingham-Halifax Lions will be on Monday, May 16 at Mello's Retreat, Academy Road.

The guest speaker will be Joe Dauscher, the Network Relations Manager of the Vermont Foodbank, which is the state's largest hunger relief organization. Joe works as the liaison between the Foodbank and the 225 network partner food shelves, meal sites, shelters, senior programs and after-school programs statewide. He will speak with us about the programs and operations of the Foodbank, and a few of the ways folks can become involved and help out.

AARP meeting set for May 17

BRATTLEBORO >> AARP Chapter No. 763 will host its annual meeting at the American Legion Hall, Linden Street, on Tuesday, May 17, at Noon. The luncheon will a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings, including a dessert of ice cream with crème de menthe sauce. A vegetarian meal will also be available. The cost is $8. For reservations, mail a check to Mrs. Edna Fletcher, 525 Sunset Lake Rd., Brattleboro, VT, 05301, by May 14. Please note meal choice on check. For more information, call 802-254-2583. Music will be presented by Kathy. Members, guests and interested persons are welcome to attend.
