Club news and notes

BELLOWS FALLS >> The Bellows Falls Woman's Club will meet on Nov. 10 at the United Church, School Street, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Traditionally, the club has held a literacy program in November. This year, members will hear a presentation on renowned area author and illustrator, the late Tasha Tudor, presented by Tudor family friend, Kathleen Meeks. Members are reminded to bring donations of warm, adult sized winter wear, specifically new socks, gloves, mittens, hats, and scarves to the meeting. Hand warmer packets are also needed. All donations will be given to the Warming Shelter, which will open soon for the season.

The club's Oct. 13 meeting featured a luncheon hosted by the Executive Board. Guests of the club were Fran Derlinga, President of the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Vermont and Dee Beckman, Southeast District Director of GFWC-VT. Following the meal, Nancy Bazin gave a program on her food business known as Signature Sauces. She traced the history of the business and described how the sauces are produced, the combinations of flavors, and the marketing of her product. Members tasted several samples of the sauces.

The club's second successful fundraiser was held on Oct. 24, when a food sale took place in conjunction with the Friends of the Walpole, N.H., Library's annual book sale. Proceeds from fundraisers support the club's many community outreach efforts, including a high school scholarship and other youth programs. The club thanks the public for its support of its projects.

The club has welcomed four new members this fall. Women interested in joining the club and helping with its projects should contact Barbara Comtois, Membership Chairwoman, at 802-344-0025.
