What game wardens do

JACKSONVILLE >> The next meeting of the Whitingham-Halifax Lions will be on Monday, Feb. 15 at Mello's Retreat, Academy Road.

The guest speaker will be Richard Watkin, game warden for the Southern District, Vermont Fish & Wildlife. Among other responsibilities, game wardens prevent poaching and overuse of fish and wildlife resources; prevent and resolve human-wildlife conflicts; and improve Vermonters' awareness and understanding of natural resource values.

Woman's Club hosts turkey dinner

WINCHESTER, N.H. >> The Winchester Woman's Club will sponsor its annual turkey dinner Sunday, Feb. 21, serving from noon to 1:30 p.m. This year it will be held at the United Church of Winchester, corner of Main Street and Parker Street.

The dinner benefits the Winchester Community Creche. A donation of $9 for adults and $4 for children age 10 through 3 is requested. Children 2 and under are free. Tickets are available at the door or in advance by contacting any Woman's Club member.
