Post No. 5
BRATTLEBORO -- The officers and members of American Legion Post No. 5 visited with the residents at Thompson House on Maple Street on Nov. 8. Legion members presented a program on Veterans Day to those in attendance.
The Post No. 5 Color Guard, officers and members traveled to Bernardston, Mass., Elementary School on Nov. 9 to present an educational program on Veterans Day and its meaning to the children and adults.
The Post No. 5 American Legion Band, color guard, officers and members of Post No. 5 attended the joint Veterans Day services hosted by VFW Post No. 1034 in Brattleboro. The band provided a musical tribute to veterans from all branches of service. A musical solo of "God Bless America" was performed by local radio personality Tim Johnson. Following the services, a buffet was provided by the VFW family.
Commander Richard Guthrie, officers and members of Post No. 5 attended the annual Veterans Day services at Kurn Hattin Homes on Nov. 12. The children did a wonderful job paying tribute to the veterans.
The Children’s Christmas Party for children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Post, Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. "The Annie’s" will be the entertainment and there will also be refreshments. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making a visit with all the children.
