Eagles Auxiliary

BRATTLEBORO -- The August meetings of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary will be held on Wednesdays, Aug. 6 and 20, at the Club Home, 54 Chickering Drive, Brattleboro. All members are welcome.

Brattleboro Area Lions Club

BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Area Lions Club meets the first and third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. For details, contact Lion Jim Zoller at 802-579-6899.

Newfane Garden Club

NEWFANE -- The Newfane Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 2 p.m. at the Newfane Congregational Church. This month, Bill Guenther, the Windham County Forester for the Vermont State Department of Forests and Parks, will speak about trees in the home landscape and their care.

Guenther will also speak about invasive plant species and insect threats to the hemlock, ash and other trees in the area.

Tri Town Collectors Club

BRATTLEBORO -- The Tri Town Collectors Club will hold a Coin, Comic Book, Sports, Postcard and Stamp Hobby Show on Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Holiday Inn Express on Chickering Drive in Brattleboro from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Offerings include coins, currency, stamps and sports cards, a special quiz for collectors, door prizes including collectable quarters and donated stamps from a Bellows Falls collector. Three new coin collectors will be present, including a Canadian coin specialist. There also will be a collector with a large presentation of vintage sports cards and two comic book dealers.

There is no admission charge and anyone wishing to set up a card table to sell their material may do so by calling Joe Fuller at 802-297-1274.
