Retired Teachers Association

BRATTLEBORO -- The Windham County Retired Teachers Association will meet on Monday, June 3, at 11:30 a.m. at the Elks Home, 75 Putney Road, in Brattleboro.

Tri Town Collectors

BRATTLEBORO -- The Tri Town Collectors welcome all coin, postcard, sports, stamp and comic book collectors to its family "Cow-lectors Show" (the event is being held the same day as the Strolling of the Heifers) on Saturday, June 8, at the Holiday Inn Express on Chickering Drive in Brattleboro from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Many dealers and collectors from the tri-state area meet monthly for a scholarship auction, along with a day-long series of hobby activities that offer fun for the whole family. Besides the usual offerings of coins, currency, stamps and sports cards, a special quiz for collectors is held at the coin club table.

Anyone reaching into the collectable grab bag and selecting a free Indian Head cent or Buffalo nickel will be able to double their prize if they can say who was president in the year the coin was minted. The Indian Head cents were issued from 1859 until 1909 while the Buffalo nickels were released from 1913-1938. Other door prizes will also be available for hobbyist of all ages. Two new stamp dealers will be present this month and an expert in antique marbles, ephemera, colonial copper coins and vintage comic books.

There is no admission charge and anyone wishing to set up a card table to sell their material may register with Joe Fuller at 802-297-1274.

Sons of the American Legion

BRATTLEBORO -- Brattleboro Sons of the American Legion Squadron No. 5 will meet Monday, June 10, at the Post No. 5 American Legion, 32 Linden St., in Brattleboro beginning at 6:30 p.m. All members are asked to attend.

American Legion Auxiliary

BRATTLEBORO -- American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 5 of Brattleboro will meet on Sunday, June 9, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Legion Hall, 32 Linden St. Installation of officers will take place and a brunch will follow the meeting and installation. All members attending are asked to bring a dish to share.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary

BRATTLEBORO -- The VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 1034 will meet at the Post Home on Thursday, June 20, beginning at 7 p.m.

Prior to the regular monthly meeting, a joint meeting of the VFW Post No. 1034, VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 1034, and the VFW Men’s Auxiliary No. 1034 will be held at 6 p.m. to go over the plans for the annual family outing on July 28, 2013.

All members are urged to attend.
