Colonel girls outscore Hurricanes

HARTFORD -- Anwyn Darrow, Devin Millerick and Abbie Lesure all found the back of the net as the Brattleboro girls soccer team topped Hartford, 3-1, on Wednesday.

"We’re progressing. Every game, we’re getting better. I thought it was a good passing game," said BUHS coach Edwin de Bruijn.

Aimee Johnston had seven saves for the victors. Assists were credited to Katelyn Donovan, Hannah Lynde and Alex Derosia.

The 3-5-3 Colonels will play at Rutland on Saturday at 11 a.m.

BRATTLEBORO -- The Hurricanes tallied twice in the last 1:48 of Wednesday’s game to stun the Colonels.

"It was just a shame to lose," said BUHS coach Paul Sather. "They were relentless. We played really, really well. It was a tough, tough loss."

Jack Maples and Miles Goldenbird did the scoring for the hosts. The 3-7-1 Colonels will host St. Johnsbury on Monday at 4 p.m.
