Colonels fall to 0-2
JERICHO -- The Brattleboro boys basketball team dropped to 0-2 with a 44-36 loss to Mount Mansfield on Saturday.
In the rematch of last season’s Division I semifinal, Nick Bergeron and Alec Carew each scored 11 points to lead the Cougars. Jackson Batchelder finished with 11 points to pace the Colonels.
Brattleboro will host Hartford on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Leland & Gray 76, Poultney 50
TOWNSHEND -- After being heartbroken in their opener, the Leland & Gray boys basketball team bounced back with a 76-50 victory over Poultney.
Michael Bergeron and Drew Barnum continued to do damage inside. Bergeron finished with a double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Barnum had a team-high 11 points. Riley Kenney and Billy Nupp each chipped in with eight points.
Steve Shepardson and Kyle Lilly paced Poultney with 22 and 11 points respectively.
The 1-1 Rebels will play at Poultney on Wednesday night at 7:30.
CRAFTSBURY -- Halie Lange of the Brattleboro Union High School Nordic ski team beat a number of collegiate racers from Bates, Middlebury, St. Lawrence and UNH in the Eastern Cup Classic Sprint over the weekend.
