Colonels outscore Mount Mansfield


BRATTLEBORO — Declan Lonergan had a hat trick and an assist to power the Brattleboro Union High School varsity boys ice hockey team past Mount Mansfield, 5-2, on Saturday at Memorial Park.

The Colonels outshot the Cougars 31-20. Nick Perusse (18 saves) was in goal for the winners and Phoenix Lamonda made 26 stops for the visitors.

Brattleboro stole a 3-0 lead on burials by Dan McMahon, Lonergan and Mason Powers, with assists going to Lonergan, Braxton Lynn, Evan Perkins and Jacob Bailey.

Jackson Wright would get Mount Mansfield on the board with 2:09 left in the second period. Lonergan would answer that tally, assisted by Perkins and Lynn, and later score unassisted to complete his hat trick.

The Colonels (2-6-0) will host Taconic on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
