Comedienne performs benefit for St. Michael School
BRATTLEBORO -- Comedienne Linda Belt will perform to benefit St. Michael School on Saturday at the American Legion on Linden Street. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. for hot hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar, with the comedy beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Belt is not your housewife next door. She may be a Jewish Mother, but this irrepressible woman from Jersey City, N.J., does not stay at home in suburban Hartford making brownies for PTO meetings. When Belt is at home, she’s writing new material, thinking way outside the split level box.
Belt’s humor is high-voltage bawdy, brassy and bold, replete with act outs, yet relatively low in profanity and audience insult. She cites George Carlin and Joan Rivers as comics who inspired her.
Belt has performed throughout the U.S. and Canada and has been featured in a number of comedy festivals, including the Hogtown Comedy Festival in Toronto, the Detroit Comedy Festival, the Long Island Comedy Festival and the Boston Comedy Fest. Her many venues have included the Tropicana in Atlantic City, Mohegan Sun, Turning Stone Casino, Comedy Studio in Boston), New York Improv, the Broadway Comedy Club & The Laugh Factory in New York City as part of the "Broads of Broadway" show, Comedy Zone and Royal Caribbean Cruiselines.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchase at St. Michael School at 802-254-6320, the Rectory at 802-257-5101, or at the door the night of the show. For more information, visit www.lindabelt.com.
