BMC season opens
with two concerts highlighting Beethoven

BRATTLEBORO -- On Sunday, Sept. 29, the Brattleboro Music Center’s 2013-14 concert season opens with a performance of the complete cycle of Beethoven’s sonatas and variations for piano and cello.

Cellist Sharon Robinson and pianist Benjamin Hochman, will play Beethoven’s complete works for cello and piano, five sonatas and three sets of variations, in two concerts on one day at Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main St. The concerts are at 3 and 7 p.m. Tickets for one concert are $30, $20, $10. Prices to attend both concerts are $45, $30, $15. Lowest price tickets have limited viewing.

Concert-goers are also invited to join the BMC for a special dinner buffet at Blue Moose Café between the concerts. Cellist and Chamber Series Artistic Director Zon Eastes will speak about the sonatas during the dinner. Reservations are required; $30 per person. Seating is limited.

Putney Inn hosts
murder mystery
dinner theater evenings

PUTNEY -- The Vermont Theatre Company, in cooperation with The Putney Inn, will present two evenings of interactive murder mystery dinner theater on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28 and 29.

Billed as "Murder Duet," each evening will include a totally different murder mystery.

On Saturday, Sept. 28, the performance will be "Murder in Napa Valley." On Sunday, Sept. 29, the performance will be "Murder at the Disco or Staying Alive." in New

Tickets are $40 per person which includes the murder mystery and a buffet dinner. Performances begin each night at 5 p.m., and reservations are required.

‘Reverberations from Egypt’ presented
on Sept. 28

BRATTLEBORO -- Izdahar Corporation presents "Reverberations from Egypt," a concert of violin and vocal music from Egyptian and Western sources, performed by Dr. Osman el Mahdy and Omar El-Okdah on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m., at New England Youth Theatre, 100 Flat St.

The evening will also feature a question and answer session about the effects of the recent turmoil on the art scene in Egypt. Izdahar Corporation is a nonprofit that seeks to promote understanding between the U.S., the Middle East and North Africa through cultural exchange programs.

Tickets are $20, $15 for students and can be purchased through or at the door.

Sandglass New Visions series starts Sept. 27

PUTNEY -- Sandglass Theater is hosting the New Visions Puppetry Series, featuring new works by emerging puppeteers.

Sandglass Theater is excited to be providing a forum for these up-and-coming performers., curated and co-presented by Jana Zeller.

Coming up on Friday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 29, at 4 p.m., Sens Équivoc will kick off the series with "La Causeuse (The Loveseat)" This physical theater piece, performed by Olivia Faye Lathuillière, paints vividly a world of intrigue entirely without words.
