Compass School’s Bluegrass Benefit Concert is Sunday in BF

Thursday March 14, 2013

BELLOWS FALLS -- Compass School of Westminster, presents a Bluegrass Benefit Concert featuring the Corey Zink Band and the Seth Sawyer Band on Sunday at 1 p.m., at the Bellows Falls Opera House.

Seth and Candi Sawyer are Compass School parents and have created this event to support the Global Connections Program, The Compass School’s junior class immersion and service learning trip to the Dominican Republic. Each year, students travel to a Spanish-speaking country for direct immersion in the complexity of issues in the developing world.

The Seth Sawyer Band has years of experience entertaining people with classic bluegrass music. Sawyer’s songs -- like "Long Forgotten Dream," (which went to No. 10 on the Bluegrass Unlimited charts), "Engineer Without a Train," "One More Time I Must Rise," "Old Leather Bag" and "Spread Your Wings" -- have been recorded by The Gibson Brothers, David Davis & the Warrior River Boys and the Pine Hill Ramblers and Sawyer’s renditions with his band.

The Corey Zink Band is firmly rooted in the traditions of the early decades of bluegrass and country music. With a driving banjo, bass and soulful mandolin the group delivers powerful musicianship combined with lonesome harmonies blended with Zink’s lead baritone vocal.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets are available at
