Country ingenue performs in BF
BELLOW FALLS -- Jandee Lee Porter, local country-singing ingenue, will perform on Saturday at 9 p.m., at the new Windham Ballroom, 36-40 The Square.
Her performance is third in the Popolo Music Series that has featured international cult rock pioneer Kristin Hersh and new folk veteran Peter Mulvey. Porter’s country set fits neatly between these and nugrass sensations, Hot Day At The Zoo who perform on Dec 1.
Learning her alt-country chops right here in the Connecticut River Valley, Porter is a student of unnoticed details. She trots them out into the open with a clear-throated sincerity that slyly mixes styles but relies on pure melodies and solid stories to keep it together.
With the release of her third album, Porter ups the ante with a seasoned band of ringers who aren’t afraid to mix their whiskey with their wine and conjure a new blend of bluegrass, old country, and new country vibrations that everyone says are Jandee’s own. This show promises to shake off your Thanksgiving triptophan haze and put you on the dance floor in your coolest cowboy boots.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door and are available at Popolo or at www.popolomeanspeople.com
