Dark and sexy comedy 'Venus in Fur' at Hooker-Dunham this weekend

Posted

BRATTLLEBORO >> The dark and sexy comedy "Venus in Fur" is opening on Friday at the Hooker-Dunham Theater. At first glance David Ives' witty play is about the theatre itself. Unfolding in real-time, the setting is an audition room where writer/director 'Thomas Novachek' meets 'Vanda Jordan' a struggling young actress. Thomas is eager to go home for the day, while Vanda is determined to audition for Thomas' new play based on the classic erotic novel 'Venus in Fur. What happens next is a raucous, and electrifying game of cat and mouse, where reality, illusion, seduction, power and love become blurred.

"I chose this play because it is a daring and provocative night out, particularly around Valentine's Day. The New York Times described it as "Ninety minutes of good, kinky fun." said director Josh Moyse

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12 and 13, and Feb. 19 and 20. Admission is $12. Tickets at shootthemoon.brownpapertickets.com or the box office. The Hooker-Dunham Theater is located at 139 Main St., Brattleboro. Information at www.hookerdunham.org.
