Deacon James Brown to preach Sunday at Dummerston Congregational Church

DUMMERSTON -- Worship at the Dummerston Congregational Church begins at 9:30 a.m. -- note the change of time. James Brown, Deacon, will preach on John 15: 1-14, "I Am the Vine, You Are the Branches." The children’s story will be by Billie Slade, church school director. There will be a brief, traditional celebration of communion using the order of service in the 1931 Pilgrim Hymnal. All who seek to follow Jesus and to walk in love and charity with their neighbor are welcome to share in this sacrament of grace. Children begin in worship and then go to an open classroom. Music leadership will be provided by Franz Robert, organist.

On Sunday, the church will receive the annual One Great Hour of Sharing Offering, the refugee, relief and development offering of the United Church of Christ. This offering makes it easier to bear the news of disasters, at home or around the world, knowing that our gifts are at work before we even hear the news. Checks may be written to DCC and noted OGHS.

Non-perishable foods, toiletries, household items, blankets, tents and tarps for the Drop-In Center may be left in the church entry. The Dummerston Women’s Association is collecting Church World Service Hygiene Kits. Donors are asked to provide one wide-tooth comb, one nail clipper, one bath-size bar of soap in wrapper, one toothbrush in original packaging and $2 per kit for processing. Starter kits are in the church entrance and kitchen. These are to be turned in by Maundy Thursday.

The church is located in Dummerston Center, 1536 Middle Road. It is a UCC is a Green Justice Congregation of The United Church of Christ. For more information about this energetic, faithful, friendly and mission-oriented church, contact Pastor Susanna Griefen, 802-257-0544,
