Deadline for filing petitions in Wilmington announced

WILMINGTON -- Town Meeting is Tuesday, March 5, 2013. The deadline for filing petitions with the Wilmington Town Clerk for articles to be included in the Town Meeting warning is 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24. Petitions for articles must be signed by 5 percent of the registered voters (79 signatures).

Nominating petitions for town and school offices are now available at the Town Clerk’s office and on the town website, and are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28. Nominating petitions must be signed by 1 percent of the registered voters (16 signatures).

The deadline to register to vote in time for the March 5 Town Meeting is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27. For information about voter registration, vacant offices or how to petition call 802-464-5836 or stop in the Town Clerk’s office during regular hours.

Town offices to be filled this year are listed as follows (position -- term): Town Moderator, 1 year; Town Clerk, 3 years; Town Treasurer, 1 year; Selectboard, 3 years; Selectboard, 2 years; Lister, 3 years; Lister, 1 year (two seats open); First Constable, 1 year; Second Constable, 1 year; Grand Juror, 1 year; Town Agent, 1 year; Cemetery Committee, 5 years; Budget Committee, 3-year term (two seats open); Library Trustee, 5 years; Trustee CC Haynes Fund, 1 year; School Moderator, 1 year; School Director, 3 years; School Director, 2 years.

The 2013 Transfer Station permits are now for sale in the Town Administration offices or at the Transfer Station.

The 2013 Liquor License Renewals have been mailed, if any establishments did not receive one, contact the Town Clerk’s office.

The 2013 Dog Licenses and renewals are now available at the Town Clerk’s office. A dog must have had a rabies inoculation not more than 36 months prior to the date of licensing for older dogs. Not more than 12 months for puppies.
