DMI suffers first defeat

BRATTLEBORO -- In Wednesday’s men’s basketball action at the Gibson-Aiken Center, Brattleboro Subaru Ford defeated Deerhill Inn 74-59 and W&B Maintenance outscored DMI 72-69.

Devon Manning tossed in five 3-pointers and racked up 34 points to lead BSF, which got 14 more points from Shane Spivey. Josh Bartholomew (18 points), Nate Gleason (12) and Kendrick Waterman (12) were all in a zone for Deerhill Inn.

Ryan Druke and Keith Lyman did the damage for W&B, scoring 19 and 15 points respectively. Lance Cutler buried three trifectas for DMI and Marshall Gilbert scored a game-high 21 points.

Middle School Hoops

ALSTEAD, N.H. -- Mariah Hazard (15 points), Kelsi Bostrom (14) and Julianne Liebow (13) had the hot hands for the Leland & Gray seventh grade girls basketball team during their 58-31 victory over Vilas. The 5-1 Rebels will host Dummerston on Monday.

Jessi Stockwell and Molly O’Brien each netted nine points for the Leland & Gray eighth grade girls basketball team which downed Vilas 48-26. The 4-1 Rebels will host Charlestown on Tuesday.

College Basketball

CASTLETON -- Whitingham’s Tarryn Bolognani scored 10 points to help the Castleton State College women’s basketball team (13-0) to an 84-56 victory over New England College on Thursday.

Dammy Mustapha of Bellows Falls also finished with 10 points, in the Castleton State College men’s team’s 91-75 win over NEC.
