Documentary film 'Buena Vista Social Club' tonight at VCP

Join the Vermont Center for Photography tonight at 6:30 p.m. for a free showing of the 1999 documentary film "Buena Vista Social Club". This documentary by lauded German filmmaker Wim Wenders follows renowned guitarist Ry Cooder and his son, Joachim, as they travel to Cuba and assemble a group of the country's finest musicians to record an album. Among the artists included in the project are singer Ibrahim Ferrer and pianist Rubén González, who are both interviewed and featured in studio footage. Free and open to the public.

At 8:15 p.m, there will be an informational session about a week long trip to (the rapidly-changing) Cuba that VCP will be collaborating on with photographer Cathryn Griffith and Common Ground Education and Travel Company. Anyone who is interested in attending this trip (Dec. 3 to 10 ) is invited to attend to ask questions and find our more information about the various activities and destinations planned.
