Drug Take Back Day today; 5 locations in Windham County

MONTPELIER (AP) - The Vermont attorney general is urging Vermonters to dispose of expired and unwanted prescription drugs properly during National Drug Take Back Day.

Police agencies will be hosting 57 collection sites around Vermont on Saturday where medications can be dropped off for free and anonymously with no questions asked. The aim is to safely dispose of the drugs and keep them out of the hands of abusers.

The collection sites will take tablets, capsules, and other solid dosage forms but no intravenous solutions.

In Windham County, people can brings drugs to the following locations: the Bellows Falls Police Department; in Brattleboro, the town police department and State Police barracks; the Windham Sheriff's Office in Newfane; and the Dover Police Department in West Dover.

Attorney General William Sorrell says last April in Vermont the public turned in a total of 2,394 pounds of drugs.
