Summer institutes

Brattleboro: Each year over a dozen Brattleboro Union High School students are selected to attend one of 10 diverse summer institutes that run on various campuses throughout Vermont. Students who have completed ninth, tenth or eleventh grade are eligible to apply. The Institutes are: Arts, Asian Cultures, Astronomy, Current Issues and Youth Activism, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Environmental Science and Technology, Information Technology and Digital Media, Mathematical Sciences, and Young Writers. More information and an online application are available on the GIV website: www.giv.org.If you love "learning and are ready for an adventure," apply today. The BUHS school deadline in March 15.

Kindergarten

Dummerston: Kindergarten registration will take place on Tuesday, March 29. If you have (or know of a child that will be five before September 1, 2016, please call the Dummerston School at 254-2733.

Honor roll

Brattleboro: Benjamin Dandrea of Brattleboro was one of about 5,170 undergraduate students at the University of Kansas to earn honor roll distinction for the fall 2015 semester. He is attending the university's School of Education.

President's List

SNHU: The following students from Vermont have been named to the President's List for the Fall 2015 semester at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester. To be eligible for this honor, a student must compile an academic grade point average of 3.7-4.0.

Candice Hahn Clark, Bellows Falls, BS Sport Management; Nicholas Koskoris, Brattleboro, BS Sport Management - Degree in Three; and Brian Geurino, Vernon, BS Information Technologies w/concentration in Game Design.

Dean's List

Bellows Falls: Maranda Greenwood of Bellows Falls has been named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2015 semester at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester. To be eligible for this honor, a student must compile an academic grade point average of 3.500-3.699. Greenwood is pursuing a BA Creative Writing and English w/concentration in Poetry.

Putney: Sophie Rodenbush of Putney has been named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2015 semester at Binghamton University in Binghamton, N.Y. This honor recognizes students who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

Newfane: Emily M. Misnick of Newfane has recently been named to the Dean's List at Boston University for the Fall semester. Students generally must attain a 3.5 grade point average, or be in the top 30 percent of their class.

GIV: The following local students recently graduated from the Governor's Institute of Vermont: Bellows Falls Union High School student Emily Wunderle of Chester; Brattleboro Union High School student Olivia Howe of Brattleboro; Greenwood School student Serkan Wylie of Putney; and Twin Valley High School student Mallory Bauer of West Dover.
