BRATTLEBORO -- The second quarter honor roll for grades 7 and 8 at St. Michael’s School is as follows:

Brattleboro Kindergarten
registration, March 6-13

BRATTLEBORO -- Kindergarten registration for the Brattleboro Town Schools will be held from March 6-13.

Registration for all Brattleboro students entering kindergarten will be held in individual kindergarten classrooms throughout the town. Children will not necessarily attend kindergarten at the school where they participate in the registration. School assignments will be made later in the spring.

Any Brattleboro resident with a child who will be five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2013, should call Sue Dyer at 802-254-3742, ext. 124, for further information and to schedule an appointment. Appointments will be confirmed by mail. Anyone wishing an exception to the policy regarding age for entrance must send a request in writing to Sue Dyer, Coordinator of Kindergarten Registration, Early Education Services, 130 Birge St., Brattleboro, VT 05301, by April l. In no case will a request for testing for early admission be allowed for a child whose birth date falls more than 60 days after the Sept. 1 date.

Vermont law requires proof of immunization for school enrollment. Children may be exempt from immunization for medical, religious or moral reasons.

Dummerston Kindergarten
registration, March 26

DUMMERSTON -- Dummerston Kindergarten registration will be held on Tuesday, March 26. Anyone who lives in Dummerston or knows a child in Dummerston who will be 5 years old before Sept. 1, 2013, should contact the Dummerston School for an appointment or further information at 802-254-2733.

Vernon Kindergarten
registration set for April 3

VERNON -- Registration for the 2013-2014 kindergarten class at Vernon Elementary School will be held on Wednesday, April 3, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Children are eligible to enter kindergarten if they are 5 years old before Sept. 1, 2013. Any Vernon resident with a child of kindergarten age should contact the school at 802-254-5373 as soon as possible. Individual appointment times for the April 3 registration day will be mailed approximately two weeks before that date.

Moore Library offers scholarships to Newfane area students

NEWFANE -- Funded by the family of the late Robert L. Crowell, the Moore Free Library is again offering a total of $12,000 in scholarships. These awards are open to students residing in Newfane, Williamsville, South Newfane and Brookline who will be entering their first year of college this fall. The scholarship committee will consider academics, contributions to the community, and financial need. The number of scholarships awarded and the award amounts will be determined by the applications received.

Applications should include a brief autobiography (including plans for continued study and the name of the school to which you have been accepted), high-school transcript, and a letter of reference. Completed applications should be submitted by May 1 to: Board of Trustees, Moore Free Library, P.O. Box 208, Newfane, VT 05345.
