EEE detected in mosquito batch in N.H.

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire health officials say a batch of mosquitoes from Londonderry has tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis, the first finding of the disease in the state this year.

No batches have tested positive for West Nile virus so far.

In 2013, there were 27 positive tests for EEE, including 24 mosquito batches and three animals.

Both diseases are transmitted by the bite of infected mosquitoes.
