Eileen Fisher donates to Green Mtn Camp

DUMMERSTON >> Green Mountain Camp for Girls recently received a donation from the Eileen Fisher Company Store in Manchester. The contribution of $3,202 will support GMC's scholarship fund, which ensures girls who would not be able to go to camp the chance to enjoy one week of fun. In 2015, GMC gave $17,000 in scholarships to 71 deserving girls, and didn't turn away a single camper.

"We are deeply grateful to the Eileen Fisher company store for this unexpected and meaningful gift," said Board President Richard Epstein. "Scholarship gifts are especially important over the next few years, as the camp launches its Centennial Campaign in honor of the camp's 100th anniversary. The capital campaign will ensure Green Mountain Camp is in good shape for the next 100 years, but we are committed to ensuring our scholarship funds don't diminish during our Centennial Campaign."

The Manchester Eileen Fisher Company Store opened in June of 2014 and has taken an active role in becoming involved in the local community.

"We're proud to support the Green Mountain Camp for Girls, and happy to be making a difference in the lives of girls in rural Vermont," said Lana Prouty, Eileen Fisher Store Leader. "For over 30 years, we have been committed to empowering girls in finding their voices to make a positive impact in their communities. We are thrilled to follow the continued success of this camp and look forward to the journeys of these incredible girls."

Green Mountain Camp for Girls was founded in 1917, by Sarah Bradley and her friend Grace Holbrook, both only 19 years old at the time. The young founders understood that girls needed a place to come together away from the isolation and chores of the farm. It was a place for girls to socialize and learn and have adventures together. While society has changed greatly since 1917, GMC is still a place for girls to be girls and have an authentic summer camp experience in the beautiful woods of Dummerston. GMC is accepting registrations and financial aid applications now for the coming season!
