DUMMERSTON -- An evening of community contra and square dances will take place at the Evening Star Grange in Dummerston Center on Saturday, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Andy Davis of Brattleboro will call the dances. Live music will be provided by Continuum. A traditional folk tale will be told during the break. The dance will be preceded by a community potluck supper at 5:30 p.m. Bring a dish and your own plates and silverware.

Continuum, from Amherst, Mass., is made up of Linda Henry on piano, Emma Snope on violin and Bob Snope on banjo and concertina.

The Village Dance Series provides an opportunity for families and friends to come together to enjoy one of New England’s traditional pastimes. Experience is not necessary, as all the dances are taught.

Although the dances are geared for school age children through adults, all ages and abilities are welcome. Students in middle and high school are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be available. The program will include traditional New England contra dances, square dances, circle mixers, and couple dances.

Admission is $4 for children, $7 for adults and $20 for a family. For more information, call Robin or Andy Davis at 802-257-1819 or email village@dancingmasters.com.
