BRATTLEBORO -- Worship at First United Methodist Church this Sunday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m. will include lighting the fourth candle of Advent, "Love." Scripture from Luke 1:46b-55, Mary’s Song of Praise, will be read by Mary Anne Deer. Pastor Cheryl Meachen’s sermon is entitled "Love Came Down." Holy Communion will be celebrated. Our liturgical dancers will present "Joseph Dearest, Joseph Mine" and the choir, directed by Jenny Hinton, will sing "What Did the Star See?" All are welcome.
An Advent study finishes this Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and is titled, "Shine!" Plan to come for on Monday, Dec. 24, to the Christmas Eve services of Lessons and Carols at 4 p.m. when our choir will sing "Cradle of Love" and Candlelight Service at 11 p.m. when accomplished pianist Timothy Deer of Boston will accompany our hymns and treat us to magical Christmas music. Pastor Meachen and her daughter Christina Catino, an elementary school music teacher in Brookline, N.H., and soprano with the Concord Chorale, will present duets at both services.
