First United Methodist Church focus is on Jesus returning to the Nazareth synagogue
BRATTLEBORO -- Worship services at First United Methodist Church on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. will focus on the story of Jesus returning to the Nazareth synagogue where he was brought up. Reading from the scroll of Isaiah he says "the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor." This scripture is found in Luke 4:14-21 and will be read by Doug Reed. Pastor Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, "Good News, Release, Recovery, Freedom and Favor," will examine Jesus’ mission statement contained in this passage.
The baptism of Kiara Alexis Powers will be celebrated. The choir, directed by Jenny Hinton, will sing. Phyllis Emery will share a mission moment describing the church’s Exercise and Strength Training classes.
The church is located next to Renew Salvage at 18 Town Crier Drive off Putney Road, across from the Shell station and is handicap-accessible. Come as you are. All are welcome.
