First United Methodist Church: The cost of true discipleship

BRATTLEBORO - Worship this Sunday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. will include the reading of Jesus’ description of the cost of true discipleship being to give up possessions, leave family and life, carry the cross and follow him; scripture found in Luke 14:25-33 to be read by Betty Stacy. Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, entitled, "Having What it Takes to Give Up What it Takes" will explore the preparation we must undertake to build a spiritual foundation. This is Homecoming Sunday, the beginning of the program year! There will be a potluck lunch following worship and displays describing the various ministries seeking new participants.
