BRATTLEBORO >> The Qualifier for Vermont U16 and Eastern High School Elite Nordic ski teams was held on Sunday at Craftsbury Outdoor Center.

Racing for Brattleboro were Isaac Freitas-Eagan, Liz Morse, and Isabella Thurber. Athletes completed two 4k races: classic in the morning, and freestyle (skate) in the afternoon. Freitas-Eagan qualified in the top spot for U16 boys, and Morse qualified in 10th for U16 girls. The top 20 U16 finishers qualify to represent Vermont at the U16 festival at Black Mountain, in Rumford, Maine later this month. Thurber had her work cut out for her, racing amidst a very strong and experienced field vying for 16 spots on the EHSC team. She finished 39th, out of a field of 83.

Freitas-Eagan and the Brattleboro Union High School varsity boys Nordic team had just placed second in the Marble Valley League Classic Championship at Rikert.
