Fundraiser to help Donovan family with funeral costs
BRATTLEBORO -- Five weeks ago, Colby Donovan committed suicide at the age of 13.
His parents, Tim and Jessica, are struggling to pay for his impending funeral expenses. A few community members, including Beth Baldwin, the director of the Brattleboro Boys & Girls Club, have been trying to get donations of items for an auction as well as monetary donations with the hopes of raising enough funds to pay for a headstone intended to represent who Colby was and what he loved -- Vermont outdoors and hunting.
A bank account has been set up at Brattleboro Savings & Loan -- "All For Colby" -- for anyone who would like to donate .
Donovan was a 13-year-old student at Brattleboro Area Middle School who committed suicide on Jan. 12. He grew up in Brattleboro.
The auction will take place on March 22 at 7:30 pm. There will also be a bake sale at the Outlet Center on March 1, for which donations are also being accepted.
