Girl Scouts deliver cookies to Warming Shelter

Saturday April 13, 2013

BELLOWS FALLS -- The members of Junior Girl Scout Troop 40107 recently made a special delivery of cookies to the guests of the Greater Falls Warming Shelter.

Scouts Kendra Atkin and Abby Joslyn, accompanied by their leader Melanie Atkin, brought two boxes of each of their five famous flavors of cookies to the shelter, each box sporting a colorful decoration and a message from the girls.

Leader Atkin explained that the troop members chose the shelter as the beneficiary of their donation after seeing a shelter pamphlet at their meeting place in the Bellows Falls United Church.

"The girls love to help others," said Atkin. She said she and co-leader Verna Joslyn are always looking for volunteer projects for the girls and plan to include the shelter in their projects next year.
