Groeger’s gang gets win

BRATTLEBORO -- Danny Richardson went 6 2/3 innings on the hill and the Brattleboro Union High School varsity baseball team defeated St. Johnsbury, 8-5, on Saturday.

"I thought he pitched very well. He had very good control of his breaking pitch and he was around the strike zone all day," said BUHS coach Chris Groeger.

Richardson struck out seven, walked three and scattered eight hits. Kevin Tao pitched in relief.

"I was very happy with our defense. We made just one error," mentioned Groeger. "I thought Kassidi Ramirez had a really nice game at shortstop for us."

Jimmy Mills, Michael Rooney, Richardson and Ramirez all doubled for the winners. Ryan McAuliffe chipped in with a run-scoring single.

The 1-3 Colonels will host Bellows Falls on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
