BELLOWS FALLS — Hannah Harlow has been named the 2017-2018 Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen for Bellows Falls Union High School.

Harlow, a senior, is the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Harlow of Westminster.

This award is determined based on the following criterion: dependability (including truthfulness, loyalty and punctuality), service (including cooperation, courtesy and consideration of others), leadership (including personality, self-control and ability to assume responsibility) and patriotism (including unselfish interest in family, school, community and nation.)

Harlow is an extremely dependable individual. She is a talented, hard-working student; academics and a strong work ethic are among her great strengths. Insightful, responsible and prepared, Harlow works hard to excel academically. She has a natural interest in learning and is always willing to participate in class discussions, take the lead in small groups, and help her classmates. With her outgoing personality, she is a pleasure to work with, and adds to any class or group she participates in.

In the classroom, Harlow respects the opinions and ideas of other students, and her peers respect this about her. She is a true asset to BFUHS and the community. She takes responsibility as a learner, as a leader, and as a conscientious citizen. She is a great role model for all students with her positive attitude and strong character.

Going above and beyond expectations is the Hannah Harlow way. As an active member and president of the BFUHS Student Council, her energy and enthusiasm to help others is invaluable. Harlow is a leader in every sense of the word, and she is respected by her peers and the staff at BFUHS. Harlow is looked upon as an honest and dedicated student who is nothing short of a pleasure to work with. Not only a leader in the classroom, Harlow has been the captain of the varsity soccer team for the past two years where she works hard to not only further develop her skills but to help her teammates and improve the team morale. Her enthusiasm and sportsmanship are appreciated both on and off the field.

Being a charismatic young woman, Harlow goes above and beyond the call of duty. Others gravitate toward her to share her insights and humor. Perhaps one of Harlow's greatest attributes is her sense of humility. She is never one to boast about her accomplishments, and she accepts praise graciously with a polite smile. She is, in the true sense of the phrase, a well-rounded person.
