Hassan has full day of meetings on tap in Turkey

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Gov. Maggie Hassan will spend her first full day in Turkey getting briefed by the U.S. Consulate and meeting with business leaders at the Istanbul Business Summit, where she will give the keynote address.

She will also be meeting with Turkish economists and journalists.

She is traveling with New Hampshire business representatives on a trade mission that runs through Friday.

New Hampshire economic development officials say Turkey is New Hampshire's 12th largest trading partner. New Hampshire sent $79 million in goods and services to Turkey last year.

A new direct flight now links Boston and Istanbul.

Hassan on Monday will also visit representatives of a humanitarian relief organization fighting to eliminate poverty.

The state is spending about $15,000 on the trip.
