Heavy metal! Tuba Christmas returns to West Brattleboro on Sunday
WEST BRATTLEBORO -- The third annual Tuba Christmas*Brattleboro will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m., at the First Congregational Church, 880 Western Ave.
Tuba and euphonium players from throughout the region are expected to be on hand to play familiar Christmas music, and if you’ve never heard a band of low horns filling a room with a rich, deep, warm sound, you’re in for a treat.
"It’s an entirely different sound ... good and loud," said Bruce Corwin, who will co-direct the ensemble with Steve Rice.
Players are welcome to dust off their tubas and euphoniums and join in, starting with rehearsal at 1 p.m. on Dec. 16. For more information on joining in, contact Corwin at 802-254-4157.
Admission is free, although an offering will be taken. There will be chances for audience members to sing-along.
Nationwide, Merry TUBACHRISTMAS® is celebrating its 39th year. Created by Harvey Phillips to honor his mentor William J. Bell, the event now takes place in more than 250 cities through the U.S. and in several foreign countries.
