Holiday festivals in and around Windham County
Alstead, N.H.: November 14 is the date of the Holiday Bazaar at Third Congregational Church in Alstead. Spaces are available at $18 for an 8-foot long space; $15 for a 6-foot long space; and 4-foot long is $10. Table rental is available for $5. If you have anything to sell – jewelry, wood crafts, homemade jellies, jams, etc., sewn or knitted items, or anything else – and would like a space, call Joanne at 603-835-6734 for information and registration form. This is a fundraiser event for the Guild at Third Church, and has been ongoing for many years. There will be snacks, beverages, soups (including the popular oyster stew) and sandwiches for sale throughout the day from the kitchen. Brattleboro: The American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring its 22nd Annual Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Craft Fair is held at the American Legion Post #5 at 32 Linden Street. Refreshments will be served and a Chinese Auction will be held. Crafters interested in displaying should contact Lori Nelson at 802-380-6179 for information.
Peace and goodwill
Newfane: The NewBrook Fire and Rescue Department will be holding its 13th Annual Peace & Goodwill Dinner and Silent Auction Saturday, Dec. 5, at the firehouse located on Route 30. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the dinner and silent auction bidding beginning at 6 p.m. Ticket prices are: age 13 and up, $12; 6 to 12, $6; 5 and under, free. This annual event is a fundraiser for the all volunteer fire and rescue organization. The goal is to raise $5,000 to be used to purchase needed equipment. The organizing committee is seeking help with donations of new and used goods/services/gift certificates/handcrafted items/antiques/holiday items/cds/dvds, etc., for the silent auction. All used items need to be clean and in good working order. Sponsorships in the form of cash donations for The Peace & Goodwill Dinner will be greatly appreciated. Donors and sponsors who get their items/money to the committee by Dec. 1 will be guaranteed to receive acknowledgement in the event program. Anonymous requests will be honored.
