BRATTLEBORO -- Worship on Sunday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church will include the reading of Jesus’ promise of the Holy Spirit making its home among us. The scripture can be found in John 14:23-29 and will be read by Jane Clarke.

Pastor Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, entitled, "Gather Round the Table," will explore the sacrament of Holy Communion and its central place in the church’s home life.

Communion takes place at the table of the Lord, who expects His family to come to Sunday supper. If you’ve become Jesus’ brother or sister through faith and you’ve been united to Him in Christian baptism, you belong at the table where Jesus feeds his family. Just like at home, though, the United Methodist Church enjoys entertaining guests. If you decide to join us at the table and you’ve not been united to Christ in baptism, come explore what it means to be a member of the household of God.

The church is located next to Renew Salvage at 18 Town Crier Drive off Putney Road, across from the Shell station and is handicap-accessible. Come as you are. All are welcome.
