Hurricanes, Otters are Week 5 opponents

Posted
BRATTLEBORO — In Week 5 of the varsity football season, Brattleboro (0-4) will visit Hartford (3-1) on Friday night at 7 and Bellows Falls (3-1) will host Otter Valley (0-4) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Colonels feature junior Kris Carroll, who had a pick six and also made a fourth-down stop during his team's Homecoming loss to Burlington on Saturday. Brattleboro's improved defense is also led by Durin Hoyer (DL), Jem Cohen (LB), and Alex Province (LB) — they combined for four sacks against the Seahorses.

That unit will be facing Nick Porter, who ran for four touchdowns in Hartford's 52-40 victory over Rutland in Week 4. Kody Rhodes also scored on the ground as the Hurricanes rallied from down 40-24 late in the third quarter.

The Purple Gang has to be feeling good after shutting down rival Springfield, 45-6, in the 52nd annual Trophy Game. McGregor Vancor had seven tackles to lead the Bellows Falls defense, while Shane Clark, Dylan Clark and Logan Cota followed with five apiece.

Otter Valley can score in a hurry — Tyler Rowe threw a 54-yard TD pass to Payson Williams in a loss to U-32. Dylan Mackie added a three-yard rushing touchdown in that contest for the Otters.
