BOILED DINNER: The United Church of Bellows Falls, School St. will host a New England boiled dinner on Saturday, March 9, 5 to 6:30 p.m.. SUGAR ON SNOW: The annual Sugar-on-Snow Supper will be held Saturday, March 2, at Broad Brook Grange in Guilford. Traditionally the first sugar supper in Windham County each year, the meal features ham, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, rolls, pickles, homemade doughnuts, and Guilford maple sugar on snow.
There will be three seatings: 5, 6 and 7 p.m. At each seating, a half-gallon of Guilford maple syrup will be raffled.
This longtime annual fundraiser helps support the many activities of the Grange, which functions as a community center for Guilford.
Tickets for the supper are: $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 5-12, and $2 for children ages 4 and under. Reservations for a particular seating are recommended, as the supper usually sells out in advance. A waiting list will also be kept, and those with reservations who cannot make it are asked to phone their cancellation. There are usually a few unreserved seats left for the 7 p.m. seating, for those who show up without a reservation. Reservations may be made by calling Sara at 802-257-0288.
The Grange hall is located on Guilford Center Road, four miles west of the Guilford Country Store.
In Hinsdale, N.H.
CHILI COOK-OFF: The Hinsdale Community Coalition will hold its annual Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, March 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Millstream Community Center at 19 Main St. in Hinsdale. To register for the contest, the HCC office at 603-336-6135 or Liz Boggio at 603-336-5104. All those bringing chili entries must have them at the Community Center no later than 12:30 p.m.
There will be door prizes, music and the winner trophies to the first, second and third place winners. The event is free and open to all.
TOWN MEETING POTLUCK: There will be a potluck lunch during the Newfane Town Meeting, which begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, at the Williamsville Hall. Dishes and utensils are available, although residents are encouraged to bring their own. It is not necessary to register ahead of time or coordinate what type of dish to bring.

LUNCH AND BAKE SALE: Putney Central School Four Winds Nature Program volunteers will host a bake sale, coffee and cider table throughout the day on Town Meeting Day, March 5. For lunch, a variety of hearty soups, Cabot cheese and Red Hen Bakery bread will be served. There is a suggested donation of $5 for lunch. Donations for the bake sale table, which can be dropped off the morning of the meeting, will be appreciated.
This fundraiser supports the hands-on, nature program for all students in kindergarten through grade 5. It is taught by parent and community volunteers, who are trained by the Four Winds Nature Institute to present a cohesive well-thought-out curriculum over the course of five years.

FREE OUTREACH MEAL: West Brattleboro Baptist Church will continue its free Community Outreach Meal Ministry at 979 Western Ave. on Sunday, March 3, from noon to 2 p.m. The meal was postponed from Feb. 24.
The menu will include homemade shepherd's pie, tossed salad with a choice of dressing, warm bread, applesauce, choice of beverage, and Jell-O or pudding with whipped cream for dessert.

In West Dummerston
COMMUNITY CENTER BENEFIT: The Dummerston Community Center's annual Pampered Chef event will be held on Sunday, March 3, at 12:27 p.m. at the Center, located at 150 West St. in West Dummerston.
Kim Martin will host the show, with new spring products, recipes, demonstrations of many cooking needs, also hands-on cooking, and the tasting of spices, sauces and rubs.
Proceeds will assist in operating expenses for the Community Center.

CHURCH MEALS: In recent months the First Congregational Church of Westminster has been busy with activities designed to bring people together. Besides the normal Sunday service with refreshments following, their meals are very well attended with both locals and people from afar. Many often comment, "Where else can you come have a good meal and listen to piano music too.
On Wednesdays at noon, Souper Wednesday which consists of three different soups and hot rolls or bread. This was started three years ago to offset the soup kitchen in Bellows Falls who didn't serve on Wednesdays. Souper Wednesdays are attended by people in all the communities around. The time is enjoyed as a social gathering during the winter months. Free-will donations are accepted to help offset the expense.
Christina Smith, a Deacon, commented the church is doing exactly what it did over 50 years ago before the age of technology. Besides a place for worship it is serving as a hub for social gathering and a place where people get together to help their neighbors in need.
The next breakfast will help kick off mud season. "Take Your Sweetheart to Breakfast" will be March 9 from 8 to 10 a.m. The cost for the buffet style breakfast will be $7 and includes scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries, french toast, fruit cup, coffee, tea, and milk.
In Winchester, N.H. ...
BEAN SUPPER: The United Church of Winchester will hold its monthly Bean Supper on Saturday, March 2, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the church building on Main Street in Winchester.
Served family style, the cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children, and $20 for up to five family members, which includes adults with children. The building is accessible to all and proceeds help to fund the church's missions.
