Ironmen sweep Saxtons River


SAXTONS RIVER >> On Sunday afternoon, the Saxtons River Pirates dropped a doubleheader to the Connecticut River Ironmen of Hartford by the scores of 7–1 and 6-4 in Green Mountain League showdowns.

David Guyer pitched a complete game for the Pirates in Game 1, giving up 12 hits, walking three and striking out four. Of the seven runs, three were earned. The second base/shortstop combination of Chris Bashaw and Cagney Brigham turned three nifty double plays for Saxtons River.

In Game 2, Jeremy Currie pitched another complete game, giving up six runs, walking five and striking out four. Andre Eason Jr. drove in two of Saxtons River's runs.

The Pirates will play their final doubleheader of the season on Sunday against the Barre Braves in Williamstown at 11 a.m.
