SAXTONS RIVER -- Israel Cavanagh of Saxtons River was recently inducted into the National Society of High School Scholars. The society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship, and community commitment. Israel is an 18-year-old home school student. She is the daughter of Ginger Cavanagh and the late John E. Cavanagh.

She is currently completing the Oak Meadow High School curriculum, and will graduate on June 14, 2014, with a 4.0 GPA.

After graduation, Israel plans to attend either Greenfield (Mass.) Community College or Keene (N.H.) State College to pursue a degree in Dance.

Israel has been dancing since she was 3 years old, and currently competes with Kelly’s Dance Academy. Other interests include art, field hockey, ice skating, and violin. Israel aspires to be a professional dancer, and one day hopes to share her love of dance by teaching children.
