It's the annual Walk for Amber walkathon

BRATTLEBORO >> Sunday, June 5 will mark the eleventh annual Walk for Amber walkathon and dinner. Amber Bernier was loved and treasured by many people and in an effort to honor her memory, friends and family have organized a day of remembrance. On April 30, the Walk for Amber committee hosted a second annual StorySlam, another entertaining and successful fundraising event.

All funds go the Amber Bernier Scholarship. To date, the Walk for Amber scholarship committee has awarded 27 scholarships and over $17,000 to graduating seniors from BUHS, the Career Center, and surrounding high schools throughout the region.

On Sunday, June 5 at 11 a.m. there will be a walkathon beginning at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. Registration begins at 10 a.m. The walk will be approximately five (rather easy) miles. There will be a pasta dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church at 880 Western Ave., West Brattleboro. Entera Artisan Catering, along with friends and family will provided the meal. Homemade desserts and salads will complement the meal. Musical entertainment will be provided by Daniel Kasnitz, with a special appearance by the a cappella group Renegade.

Tickets for the dinner will be available at the door, suggested donation of $10 per adult and $5 per child. A raffle and prize drawing will take place at the dinner. This will be a day for the community to remember and celebrate Amber's life. All proceeds from the walkathon, dinner and raffle will go to the Amber Bernier Scholarship Fund. Any questions or take out food orders may be directed to Amber's mother, Debbie, at 802-579-8043.
