Lady Colonels get first win
BRATTLEBORO -- The Colonels won their first varsity field hockey game of the season when Kebrina Howard wrapped the game-winning shot around the Bulldogs’ net and into the goal in overtime, for a 2-1 victory against Burr and Burton on Wednesday evening.
"We are thrilled," said Brattleboro coach Deb Valliere. "We finally got a win!"
The Colonels’ first goal came in the second half with an unassisted tap-in by Kayla Savage after she received it coming through the circle.
But Burr and Burton stayed in the game with a put away with less than two minutes of play remaining.
Howard’s goal was assisted by Savage, and she also had backup from Meghan Kinsman.
"The ladies all played well," said Valliere. "Nina Goodhue did a good job for us tonight after we brought her up from the JV team."
Colonel goalie Jen Dyer managed eight saves.
Brattleboro will host Bellows Falls on Friday at 6 p.m.

The Patriots tied it up with just 10 minutes left in second half action.
