Last Union Service of summer to be held Sunday at First Congregational
WEST BRATTLEBORO -- The last Union Service for this summer will be held Sunday, Aug. 25, at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 880 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro. Neighbors, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ from Centre Congregational Church and Guilford Community Church will be in attendance. This week is the 14th Sunday after Pentecost.
The Rev. Joseph Amico will share a sermon called "Breaking all the Rules" based on Luke 13:10, 10-17. Organist and pianist George Soulos will share a prelude of "Come, Christians, Join to Sing" by Gordon Young, and a postlude of "Tocatta in C Major" by Felix Mendelssohn.
Soulos will lead the choir in an offertory, "Brethren. We Have Me to Worship" by Edward Broughton. Combined choir rehearsals will be held at 9 a.m. on Sunday. The congregational hymns this week are "Help Us Accept Each Other," "O Young and Fearless Prophet," and "O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee."
Sunday worship at First Congregational Church is at 10 a.m. Following worship there is a Lemonade Hour. For those with disabilities, there is a ramp leading to the Fireplace Room level, as well as large-print hymnals and bulletins. For a ride to worship call 802-257-4408.

Ongoing weekly events include the Prayer Fellowship at 8:30 a.m. Sundays and the Handicraft group on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. (floating location for the summer, call church for information).
