Latchis shows ‘Funny Girl’

BRATTLEBORO -- Latchis Arts’ mini-series of girl-powered Movies by Donation screenings at the Latchis Theatre wraps up with "Funny Girl" on Sunday at 7 p.m. Admission to both screenings is by donation.

"Funny Girl" is one of the big movie musicals from the 1960s. Barbra Streisand brings Fanny Brice to life in her iconic role of a lifetime. Sweeping the burlesque and vaudeville era of the 1920s, the story of a duckling becoming, well, a more magnificent duckling, amid the glamour, love and heartbreaks of Broadway is a romantic musical of the old school. Streisand’s recording of "People" became an instant hit and the heart of "Funny Girl."

Latchis Arts will share the proceeds with Girls on the Run Vermont and the Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro, two local non-profit organizations who work with youth in the community.
