Legislators get update on school district consolidation


MONTPELIER, VT. >> Lawmakers are getting an update on how many school districts are taking steps to consolidate six months after the legislature passed a bill the encourages district consolidation to address rising costs and declining enrollment.

The House Education Committee on Wednesday will hear from Vermont Education Secretary Rebecca Holcombe and the school boards' and superintendents' associations.

The committee meets at 9 a.m. at the State House.
