Leland & Gray baseball team goes to 4-2

TOWNSHEND — The Leland & Gray varsity baseball team topped Woodstock 6-2 on Thursday and then edged Twin Valley 6-5 on Saturday to improve to 4-2 on the season.

Max Cramp, Casper Rowe and Joe Emmons took turns on the hill for the Rebels versus the Wasps, while those three were also the team's leading hitters. Cramp and Rowe both pitched really well against Twin Valley, with the offensive damage coming from Walker Hamer (2 RBI's) and Jeremy Bovat.

Baylee Crawford went 3 for 4 to pace the Wildcats and Logan Park contributed with two hits. Kyle Murdock was solid in his 5.2 innings of work for Twin Valley (4-4).

Boys Lacrosse

BRATTLEBORO >> The Colonels fell to Amherst 14-13 on Thursday and then lost to Woodstock 11-4 on Friday. Jack Gagnon (7 goals), Evan Perkins (4 goals), Matt Gaboriault (3 assists) and goalie Griffin Lynde were the Brattleboro standouts versus Amherst. Perkins tallied twice against Woodstock, while Gagnon and Nate Tyler added one goal each.

"Thursday was an exhausting game versus Amherst, but the team was focused and responded well to the challenge of back-to-back games. Playing Woodstock is always a grind, and tonight was no different, but we hung tough and did a lot of good things," said BUHS coach Chris Sawyer.

The Colonels will host Woodstock on Wednesday and then welcome defending state champion CVU on Friday, with those games each starting at 7 p.m. on Natowich Field.
