Leland & Gray girls outscore Windsor, BFA-Fairfax
TOWNSHEND — Ashley Bates tallied twice in consecutive games, leading the Leland & Gray varsity girls soccer team to a 4-0 rout of BFA-Fairfax and a 4-1 victory over Windsor.
Rachel Borgesen had a goal and an assist versus the YellowJackets. Emma Densmore also struck for the Rebels in that one, with the feed coming from Arin Bates.
Borgesen and Jessie Stockwell each split the posts once against BFA-Fairfax. Arin Bates set two goals up.
Brattleboro 5, Springfield 2
BENNINGTON >> Jamie Mahoney and Danielle Wood each had a couple of goals to lead the BUHS girls varsity soccer team in the Lady Patriot Classic's consolation game. Jenna Murrow also tallied for the Colonels.
Twin Valley 4, Windsor 2
WILMINGTON >> Caitlin Hunt had a hat trick and Karlee Walkowiak also found the back of the net for the Wildcats. Karlee Walkowiak set two goals up, while Jordyn Bolognani and Kassidy Walkowiak were also credited with assists.
"It was a tale of two halves. Twin Valley dominated the first half with its possession game, quality goaltending from Grace Rizio and two goals from Hunt. The second half was all Windsor," said Wildcats coach Chris Walling.
Sweeper Callie Dix and outside back Tatyanna Bowman had solid games for Twin Valley (3-2).
Otter Valley 7, Bellows Falls 1
WESTMINSTER >> The Otters scored four goals in the first 19 minutes, from Abbey Pinkowski, Olivia Drew, and Julia Lee (2), before Alivia Dyson stopped the bleeding by marking the Otter Valley star. In the second half, the Terriers gave up two goals in the first three minutes. In the 10th minute. Zoe Schemm and Keri Ticino did a Messi/Suarez penalty kick, with Ticino executing. The 0-5 Terriers will host Green Mountain on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Hinsdale 1, Groveton 1
HINSDALE, N.H. >> Sam Lynch scored on a corner kick, assisted by Jen Matuszewski, and the Pacers played Groveton to a tie. The bad news for the Pacers was that starting goalie Skyler LeClair suffered a concussion. Hinsdale would then lose to Conant 9-0 and drop to 1-2-1 on the season.
HINSDALE, N.H. >> Mascenic swept the boys and girls races, which also included Hinsdale, Conant, Hillsboro-Deering and Derryfield. Maggie St. John paced the Hinsdale girls by taking fifth in 22:49 out of 27 total runners. Garrett Beham placed 20th out of 54 runners to lead the Hinsdale boys in a time of 20:46.
Ben Diamondstone tallied twice, while Alex Lier, Paul McGillion and Ayoub Soliman also scored as the Brattleboro Storm 13U team downed the Mount Hermon Wolves 5-1 in a Connecticut River Valley Soccer League matchup. Charlie Kinnersly had a hat trick for the Brattleboro Storm's 11U squad, in a 6-3 loss to the Wolves.
