Letter: Give us a chance
Give us a chance
Editor of the Reformer:
I got a real customer service job at WalMart. I'm really, really happy. They hired me fully well-knowing that I have a disability. I've been looking for a customer service job for almost seven years and it still blows my mind that people are still being discriminatory in the most liberal state of Vermont. We need to tell our local businesses to stop the rhetoric and give disabled people a real shot and not only hire beautiful young girls at restaurants. I think we need a bigger conversation and nobody is willing to talk about it. I would really like to see all local businesses required to come to a meeting and talk about this. People think poorly of WalMart, but at the same time, they were willing to give me a shot.
