Letter: Incompetence or corruption in Vernon?
Incompetence or corruption in Vernon?
Editor of the Reformer:
The embarrassing political soap opera in Vernon involving the Selectboard, the Assistant Town Clerk and the town's Annual Report leaves us with a fundamental question; is this a case of incompetence or corruption? Was the flagrant and most suspect self-promotion motivated by an arrogant contempt for the constituency — a desperate, anti-democtratic power-play? Or was it the result of incompetence so remarkable as to make some of those involved painfully unfit for their jobs? While either is clearly unacceptable, which one is worse?
