Letter: NEYT production of 'Oz' was first class
NEYT production of 'Oz' was first class
Editor of the Reformer:
I recently was privileged to see a production of "The Wizard of Oz" by the New England Youth Theater. "Oz" is a play I can almost recite word for word. It was the very first movie I ever saw. It is the myth of my generation. And yet this cast made it brand new and exciting. They were that good. It really was the Land of Oz and we, the audience, were there.
How on earth did they find a lead that looked exactly like Judy Garland? And Toto, the dog deserves an Academy Award. Even amid dancing Jitter Bugs, it never lost it's cool.
Everyone, including the cast, musicians, and scenery designers were first class. Kudos to the builder of the Wizard. It was scary, creative, awesome.
Thank you to everyone who was involved in this show. I emerged knowing once again I can find what I need within myself, if only I believe.
